The talented ladies of 2Republic which consist of Erica & Marie do an amazing job at planning your dream wedding, birthday parties, galas etc. Event planning is of course what they are passionate about, find out how it all started & what interests Erica & Marie have!

Erica Jabouin

Occupation: Event Planner-Part Owner of 2Republic Events

What led you to event planning:
"As a teenager I had three options, three dreams, to become a Lawyer, a Journalist, and a Wedding planner. While studying Political Science at Concordia University, I found myself immensly involve in the student life. Where I planned events of all kinds and also got politically involve in regards to fighting for student rights.  I discovered my love for event planning at that point. Weddings, I was always infatuated and in deep love with the concept of weddings and all the elements involved in making this a special day for the couple.Table setting, flowers, the bridesmaid dresses, the shoes, food, the music..etc everything is in the details. From the age of eleven I absolutely just adored going to weddings".

What's your passion in life:
"Social Justice is at the core of my being. Kids are the future and I believe in making sure they are giving the right tool to succeed. I also believe in making sure that all women believe in themselves and understand how phenomenal we are. Politics is definitely something I enjoy to discuss and I believe that knowledge is definitely power. Fashion is also something that I not only enjoy but I breathe. Hence why we definitely believe that's what inspires our event planning. I adore Coco Channel. I am girlie girl and yet a tomboy in the way I see fashion and the pieces I love. I love colors but I am definitely a lover of black.I love many things I have many loves and many wants. I always say that Politics and social justice is something I breathe, its in my veins but event planning is my hustle and I am in love with it!".

Marie Beliard

Occupation: Event planner-Managing Director and Co-owner of 2Republic Events

How did you get into event planning:
"Ever since I can remember, I always knew that my objective in life was to help people and to give back to my community. After being involved in the student life I realized that coordinating event was going to be my vessel of how I got to help others. Coordinating events and knowing that I had the ability to help people organize their events and aliviate any sort of stress that this may present let me know that I was in the right path and that event planning was the career for me".

What's your passion in life:
"I love life itself and all the mysteries that come with it. I love nature, music, people. I am passionate about art let's just say that I enjoy the joie de vivre itself! I am a very old soul, so I like vintage things and jazz and a good old wine! I find beauty in the smallest things, I even enjoy a good deep breath of air". (weird ain't it?)

On June 16 2012, Montréal Community Cares paid tribute to individuals and organizations in Montréal who are involved within our city, contributing at making it a better place. A fund-raising gala was on the menu, where cocktails, food, entertainment and interesting people participated in making this a magical night. 2Republic was right there in the mist of it all, since they helped coordinate and plan the whole event!

The seats chosen for the event were white with a touch of gold!

Can we really plan an event in 1 day?!?

Ever notice how the best events look effortless.. Everything just seems to unfold perfectly and at the right moment....

It all started when Erica (one half of 2Republic) decided to host a surprise bridal shower at her place...

Since she had less than 24hrs to plan everything, 2 of her biggest challenges were how to transform her apartment for the occasion and what was going to be on the menu! Guests were expected to arrive at 7:00pm.

This is how it all unfolded...

  • First stop, Winners for decorations. Decorations create an ambiance and make it more fun!
  • Afterwards, picking up the cake and some finger foods. Finger foods are easy, since you don't have to cook and there are a variety to choose from! In Montréal, Marché Adonis is one of the best place for finger foods, pastries etc.
  • A night of celebration without a bottle of wine is unacceptable, so a stop at SAQ was necessary, the place of choice for some great wine!
  • Erica had 2 friends of the soon-to-be bride come help her with the decorations and set up her apartment
  • Marie (the other half of 2Republic) was the Dj for the night
  • Board games and prizes were part of night making it entertaining!

Some of the gifts that were at the bridal shower

The cake, the pastries and the finger foods all of which look very appetizing!

The decorations, simple but yet necessary to create the perfect ambiance!

Can you really plan an event in 1 day? Yes you can! If you are creative enough and you get some help from friends and family, you can come up with the best ideas and have one of the most entertaining events!

Engagement Party!

Congratulations you're engaged! Now what?!? This is a time for your family and friends to come together and celebrate your engagement! The big question is what kind of party should it be? Very glamorous or very simple? Should there be a theme or not? Here are some ideas...

Black & White theme engagement party

Black and white screams classy and also gives it a feel of the 1940s era. You can also have guests dressed in black and white to fit in with the decor.

Cocktail theme engagement party

If summer is your favourite time of the year why not have a cocktail themed engagement party? Decorations being bright, with many colours and this is the perfect theme to have many fuzzy drinks with exotic flavours!

Keeping it simple
Maybe you don't want to fuss about to many details, that is why keeping it simple could work best for you! An idea can be an at-home engagement party, especially in the summer your backyard can be the perfect location!
